So I work in a gym and being the multicultural country that Australia is, I get a lot of people from a lot of different places around the world come through and see me. Like today I had a Personal Training session with girl from Norway who's come over to visit her Aunt. So while she's on the elliptical/crosstrainer warming up we're making small talk and start on about how she's liking Australia and the weather and ra-di-ra.

Her: My aunt says that winter is usually pretty sunny over here.
Me: Yeah usually. We've had a really cold, wet winter so far this year. Crazy.
Her: Yeah! Lol. It feels like I'm back at home. My city is like, the rainiest capital of Norway.

At which point I asked her which city she was from and she told me she was from Bergen.

Of ALL places. God I tell you, I had to try to stop myself from loling.

Me: Oh yeah - I've heard of Bergen (only because I watch Doctor Who...)


Ahhh - television! Even the fictional shows teach me stuff! XS

I have this online friend -- well, I've known her for about 5 years now, maybe 6 -- who lives in Tasmania. She was shocked that a)I knew it was a real place, and b)I knew where it was. Apparently she's had people tell her they thought it was made up for Bugs Bunny, LOL.

Normally if I tell people what city I live in (before they find out I'm from Australia) they ask me if I live in Scotland! Fair enough I suppose, there is a Perth in Scotland.

Although I do remember this idiot on a chat once who asked me (seriously mind you, not as a joke which makes it worse) if there was really a western coast to Australia. Uh...YES rhere really really is a western coast. I live on it!

Crazy stuff. Australia is just very used to being ignored I think XD we're so very very far away from all of you lot.

Now, see, I never knew there was a Perth in Scotland. If someone says Perth, I'm automatically "oh, Australia, right?" which I suppose makes me odd now. :/

Yay, the fic is really pouring down now. That's nice since I have only notes but haven't looked at mine for a while. Trouble is, I've seen a few similar things posted lately and although I'm not worried it's too similar, it may be too much of the same type of fic. So I'm taking my time.
