one little elephant balancing

...I just watched the first lot of slides and I have to admit, I am more than a little bit freaked out.

I just watched the progression of the obesity trends for North America from 1988 (the year I was born) through to 2005 and I honestly felt nauseous watching it. In less than twenty years the stats have had to grow from 10-14% all the way up to equal to or more than 30%. That? Is fucking scary people.

Now I know Australia isn't exactly some great bastion of health - we're just as bad if not worse than the US. But honestly, with the rate that obesity levels are rising globally? In ten years time I would not be surprised to see the world sitting at an 80 or 90% obesity/overweight rate instead of 70%ish which is about where we are now.

Believe it or not, I've actually had people tell me that rising obesity rates are a good thing for my industry because it means there'll be more people for me to train in the gym and get all fit and healthy. I'm sorry but that is a monstrous thing to say. I would rather be out of a job, knowing that the world is a healthier place than working in the gym every day, not even sure if what I'm doing is really going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things.

I really don't meant to sound all holier-than-thou or anything )and believe me that's not my intention) but I implore you, each and every one of you, please, for your own sake, go out and take a walk once in a while. Ride a bike. Eat a piece of fruit instead of half a packet of biscuits. I'd honestly feel so much better knowing that there are still people out there who are doing their best to avoid becoming a part of this epidemic because it honestly freaks me the hell out.

I suddenly have a social life! Who would have thought? So tomorrow night I'm going on a pub crawl with Caitlin for her birthday, Sunday is Neha's birthday lunch and then I'm going to go and see Step Up with the dancing school which shall be fun.

Omg, and I did an induction for this English guy this morning called matthew. He spent the whole thing talking about his boyfriend (yes he's gay, I didn't make a mistake) and how he wants a six pack ^_^ he's so precious, I just want to squish him but obviously I can't cause he's a potential client and that could be seriously detrimental. He's going to get his bf (who btw is rich as) to pay for personal training as well so I was like - huzzah!

Work tonight - blaahhhhh. Don't wanna goooo. Shana had her last day today - kind of odd to think that she's not going to be in there all the time. She can be a right bitch sometimes but she was always pleasant to me and I was more than happy to chat with her.

I had the most bizarro dream alst night. Casey and I were walking down a corridor and then I was like "hey, you're wearing Blair's green jacket!" and she was all proud like, "I know!" and then Jess from work popped out of a door and was all "come and look at this guy!" and there was this random guy running around and snogging Emilie De Ravin. Srsly - wtf?

Oh yeah...work...well I've gotten up at 4:45 the last two days so I'm absolutely buggered. Dancing tonight, probably seeing Tim tomorrow morning, dancing again tomorrow night then Friday night I've got work again, 4 till 9 at night. Oh and Lost's on tomorrow night! I bought new tapes for it so I have enough for more of the sea-son and stufffffff.

Coming up on Lost here is 2x05 - "...And Found" which shall be fun. I love how Sun/Jin episodes seem to have names with "..." in place of "Lost". Those writers are complete smartarses sometimes.
