Lost - 2x03 - Orientation
Well...last nights Lost was pretty pointless.
Locke’s flashbacks barely even related to the main storyline, and there was only what, three? There’s usually more than that in an episode isn’t there? I think this episode really fell down on the standard with the relating between the flashbacks and the island stuff, like you watch 1x07, The Moth and it’s all done so well, as Dom said on the audio commentary, he’s in a confined space then *flashback* he’s in a confined space again. With this there was nothing like that, no subtlety at all. And we learnt so little about Helen (the same Helen he was talking to in 1x04 Walkabout?) which I disliked. Their relation kind of jumped forward too quickly for my liking. Oh and his dad should also go and die. In as painful a way as possible of course. “You’re not wanted” – what kind of a fucktard would ever say that to anyone? And a severe lackage of Charlie but never mind, we’ll see him soon enough in Everybody Hates Hugo.
But there were some good points about Orientation, i.e.
-“You want your thirty dollars back? I want my damn kidney back!”
-Desmond. He just makes everything worthwhile. Seriously makes me laugh.
-Terry and Foxy were both brilliant in this, especially Foxy in the scene with Desmond in the jungle.
-I liked how the “leap of faith” thing tied in (being as it was about the only thing that did). And now I really want to listen to Ease Of the Midnight Visit by The Whitlams… *runs off to listen to* anyways…
-Severe lackage of the rafties (which is actually bad) but Sawyer’s still got the best lines in the whole show “Gee I guess I was too busy getting hit in the face with a club”
-Aha! Ana Lucia finally makes her first appearance. She shall be interesting.
-Hurley is much love! “I didn’t think we were going to make it through the night. And I wasn’t even here for that baby stealing part”
-“I assure you it was very exciting.” – Sayid is so deadpan sometimes it’s hilarious.
And also…
-“Things are finally getting back to normal…” *Kate comes running out of the jungle* “…Or you know, I spoke too soon.”
I repeat again, the scene with Desmond and Jack – SO good. Foxy deserves a shiny gold star for that one. And Desmond, the way he said “right” just the way he did in Jack’s flashback the other week. And then Desmond’s all; “see you in another life yeah?” thing before he ran off. I was like “OMG! ROAR!” practically clawing at the TV I was so frustrated. I hope we get to see more of Desmond – he’s so awesome. He’s my new favourite.
Everybody Hates Hugo next week! Much Hurley love. Is it next Thursday yet?
