I sometimes think he left her with his double because he won't know...can't know since it's the parallel universe. He can imagine whatever he wants and it won't be like Reinette or any other companion where he will know the moment and cause of their death. Guess this is his way of tricking his heart into believing in Rose's immortality...their own forever.
