This is definitely one of my sadder Charlie fics - it was such a rollercoaster for me writing it to go through some of the worst moments of his life and explore them and then to see him finally find his peace and happiness only to discover that he's going to lose it all again. Like you said, he knows he's out of time.
You know I don't think she ever really knew just how much she meant to him? You know, what she really represented to him. She was like, his ultimate redemption, someone to stay clean for, his rock to cling to. But she never really knew because she didn't know how bad he'd been before she met him. She knew he was a drug addict but beyond that he never told her much.
ARGH SO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL *bangs head against desk* goddamn it Darlton I hate you.
Only you can swing so smoothly from raunch to fluff and make them both work. I felt both the hardness and softness of this fic. What a pleasure from start to finish.
