Neither did I! I just finished this and thought I'd better post because I've been so slack lately with my fic. It feels nice to get feedback on it.
Aha yes, the tissues! The tissues were also a small nod to Charlie's heroin problem giving him trouble with his sinuses ^_^ but it's such a gentle reference because I didn't want to get into the whole "omgz he's on drugs and talking to Claire" thing but he was pretty out of it at the memorial being as he'd just fixed. That's also why he has trouble staying completely coherent and was bold enough to touch her hand in that scene - because he was relaxed under the influence of the drugs.
The Par Avion scene was as good as we were ever going to get from the writers but I'd've loved to have seen Charlie get upset and have a bit of a cry on Claire. I think that would have just melted her heart. It sure would've made me tear up.
Yes I remember your bottle fic, that was such a clever idea. He was very imaginative wasn't he? He always came up with great ideas and nobody ever really gave him any credit for them. Sigh.
Oh man - Hurley's bit made me catch my breath when I first thought of it. The poor guy, there's been hardly any fics showing how he deals with Charlie's death as the focal character so this was good to write, sad but good.
Tying in this project to her intial memorial service was brilliant and bittersweet. - yes! It also links the end of the fic back to the beginning which was good, it helps tie up all the loose ends and bring this full circle.
